Roots blower is a positive displacement lobe pump. It operates by pumping a fluid with a pair of interlocking lobes resembling a set of stretched gears. The fluid is cornered in pockets surrounding the lobes and carried from the intake side to the exhaust. Roots blowers are used to generate constant air flows independent of discharge pressure conditions. It’s applications are limited to low and medium pressure and vacuum processes and can be used to provide small to large airflow rates
