Applications :

1. Municipal Water Purification :

   Both residential and commercial uses are made of municipal water. In the industrial sector, the use of high-quality water goes far beyond cleaning and cooking. The food and beverage business strives for quality control so that a recipe’s or soda’s flavor is constant across all locations. Due to microbial contamination, chemical residue, salinity, and other factors, both the pharmaceutical and chemical sectors are severely impacted by poor water quality. In order to ensure high-quality water, commercial reverse osmosis systems are extensively used in municipal water purification.

2. Desalination of Seawater :

   Many populous places get their water exclusively from oceans and seas, which can contain up to 35,000 mg/l of salt. This highly salinized water is also necessary for cruise ships, offshore drilling, maritime transportation, and marine industrial applications. Continuous usage of water with excessive salt concentrations can harm marine equipment and render it unsafe for ingestion. Therefore, high pressure commercial reverse osmosis systems with specialized membranes are installed by the maritime industries to remove the salt content of saltwater. In addition to lowering chemical and bacterial pollution, it aids in desalination.

3. Desalination of Brackish Water :

   Brackish water is a mixture of fresh and salt water that contains between 1,000 and 15,000 mg/L of dissolved salts. However, the WHO recommends using water with a salinity of less than 500 mg/L for industrial and potable water applications. The desalination of brackish water also uses the reverse osmosis (RO) method.

4. Boiler Feed Water :

   Hard water can cause industrial boilers to malfunction. Use of hard water at high temperatures can lead to issues including scaling, poor thermal transfer, longer cleaning downtime, and shorter boiler vessel life cycles. As a result, the boiler system should only receive and feed softened water. Reverse osmosis systems are used in the mechanical, chemical, pharmaceutical, and timber and pulp industries to treat and condition water prior to pre-boiling.

5. Wastewater Treatment :

   Reverse osmosis is one of the methods used in the water purification industry. The penultimate step in the elimination of chemical, microbiological, and dissolved contaminants is typically reverse osmosis. In the wastewater industry, reverse osmosis (RO) systems are used for tertiary water treatment. Similar to this, before being disposed of, industrial wastewater is pre-treated using a reverse osmosis (RO) system. Commercial reverse osmosis systems are used for the treatment of industrial gray water, black water, and other types of water.
